Sir Shaker recently had the privilege of designing three unique cocktail recipes for the esteemed McNinch House Restaurant in Charlotte, NC. These creations were showcased at their annual Flamingle Event, a celebration dedicated to the memory of the late founder, Ellen Davis. Ellen's affection for flamingoes made this the perfect occasion to honor her and celebrate National Flamingo Day.
During the creation process of these recipes, we focused on creating hand-crafted quality cocktails that could be made in bulk for ease of service.
The first cocktail was the Mojito Spark. This cocktail blends the flavors of a mojito and a traditional daiquiri. For the mojito component, it includes rum and lime juice, and to achieve the distinctive mint flavor, I crafted a straightforward mint simple syrup. On the daiquiri side, it features rum, lime juice, and simple syrup, all together served in a classic coupe or daiquiri glass.
The second cocktail was the Berry Lemongrass Spritz. One of my favorite vodkas is Grey Goose Essences Strawberry & Lemongrass, which inspired this recipe. To enhance the lemongrass flavor, I added a splash of lemon juice. For a hint of floral notes, I included some St-Germain Elderflower liqueur. To achieve a pink hue and a touch of cranberry flavor, I mixed in some cranberry juice. Finally, I topped it off with seltzer water to create a refreshing spritz and lighten the overall drink.
The third and final cocktail, my favorite, is the Strawberry Fizz Royale. This recipe takes inspiration from a French 75 but adds a playful twist with Strawberry Gin and Rosé Prosecco. Sipsmith Strawberry Smash Gin offers a delightful taste and aroma reminiscent of a basket of fresh strawberries. This gin pairs beautifully with Costco's Rosé Prosecco, which features fresh berry and tropical fruit flavors. Lemon juice and simple syrup complete this perfectly balanced cocktail.
